Irrational Beliefs and Depressive Symptoms among Younger and Older Adults: A Cross-Sectional Comparison.
Hayslip, Bert, Jr.; And Others
International Journal of Aging and Human Development, v38 n4 p307-26 1994
Explored age differences in expression of depression. Among 118 young adults and 107 community-residing elderly individuals, found that, in young adults, cognitive belief factors "externality/control" and "dependency/emotionality" were associated with affective and cognitive aspects of depression. Among older adults, cognitive belief factor "cognitive-emotional rigidity/dependency" was uniquely associated with affective and somatic depressive symptoms. (Author/NB)
