Minority versus White Administrators' Perceptions of the Recruitment and Retention of Minority Faculty in Two Year Colleges.
Opp, Ronald D.
Journal of Applied Research in the Community College, v1 n2 p85-99 Spr 1994
Presents a study comparing the perceptions of minority and white academic affairs vice presidents regarding barriers and approaches to minority faculty recruitment and retention. Indicates that, although white administrators emphasized structural institutional barriers, minority administrators emphasized attitudinal barriers. Suggests that hiring minorities for highly visible administrative positions is crucial in promoting faculty equity. (Contains 23 references.) (MAB)
