Being the Best: Preliminary Results from a National Study of the Achievement of Prominent Black and White Women.
Fassinger, Ruth E.; Richie, Beth Sperber
Journal of Counseling Psychology, v41 n2 p191-204 Apr 1994
Examined achieving styles, coping strategies, and feminist attitudes of 125 prominent, highly achieving black and white women. Both similarities and differences between black and white women were found, and achieving styles were significantly related to other variables. Findings suggest that personal standards for excellence were salient motivational factors for most respondents. (Author/NB)
