Redirecting Reform: Challenges to Popular Assumptions about Teachers and Students.
Clark, David L.; Astuto, Terry A.
Phi Delta Kappan, v75 n7 p512-20 Mar 1994
Current reform movement is stuck in a worsening negative cycle that bruises human spirit. Teacher-centered reform movement is needed. Challenging dominant assumptions about professional educators and students is necessary to generate a new sense of purpose. Metaphor for tomorrow's schools should be the successful home guided by mature, caring adults. External agencies should support, not dominate, local community schools. (MLH)
