Cerebral Laterality in Dyslexic Children: Implications for Phonological Word Decoding Deficits.
Kershner, John; Micallef, John
Reading and Writing: An Interdisciplinary Journal, v3 n3-4 p395-411 Dec 1991
Evaluates a substantially updated version of the "classical" idea of a significant relationship in dyslexic children between cerebral lateralization and their word decoding deficits. Finds further evidence that dyslexia is not related to incomplete lateralization. Suggests that dyslexics suffer from exuberant right hemisphere processing in response to spatial attentional demands. Suggests that lateralization is unaffected by the disorder. (RS)
