Counselling Difficult Children.
Ritchie, Martin H.
Canadian Journal of Counselling, v28 n1 p58-68 Jan 1994
Because most children are involuntarily referred to counseling, counselors must expect resistance and accept it as reasonable reaction. Counselors engage children by explaining rules of counseling and gaining informed consent. Methods for securing commitment to change include indirect confrontation with puppets, media or stories, paradox and reframing; modeling and role plays. (Author/NB)
