Issues of Respect: Reflections of First Nations Students' Experiences in Postsecondary Anthropology Classrooms.
Te Hennepe, Sheila
Canadian Journal of Native Education, v20 n2 p193-260 1993
Twelve First-Nations teacher-education students at the University of British Columbia were interviewed concerning experiences in anthropology classes. Students were disturbed by instructors' authoritative presentations of First Nations issues, presentations that did not correspond with students' knowledge and experience. Analyzes the process of constructing meaning about cross-cultural information as it passes from ethnographer to faculty to students. (KS)
