Kaiser, Javaid
Early Child Development and Care, v97 p91-105 1994
The effects of family configuration, family income, and child gender on academic achievement were examined in 239 latchkey children in grades 3 through 5. Found that children of single parents scored lower on reading and language measures in grade four than children in two-parent families. Girls scored higher than boys in reading in grade four. (MDM)
