The Cost-Effectiveness of Alternative Training Modes: Engineering Artisans in Zimbabwe.
Bennell, Paul
Comparative Education Review, v37 n4 p434-53 Nov 1993
Examination of three alternative modes of vocational training for skilled trades in Zimbabwe revealed that on-the-job craft apprenticeships were considerably more cost effective and resulted in a higher rate of employment than either school-based training or preemployment training in vocational training centers. The adversarial relationship between employers and the government is discussed. (SV)
