Psychological and Sociological Discriminants of Violent and Nonviolent Serious Juvenile Offenders.
Gerstein, Lawrence H.; Briggs, John R.
Journal of Addictions and Offender Counseling, v14 n1 p2-13 Oct 1993
Examined ability of sociological and psychological variables to discriminate between violent and nonviolent criminal offenses among population of juvenile offenders. Findings suggest that violent and nonviolent serious juvenile offenders may differ with respect to their prior criminal experiences, familial and interpersonal relationships, socioeconomic backgrounds, developmental etiology, and psychological makeup (e.g., personality style and degree of intelligence).
