This study examined faculty and deaf college students' views of effective teaching characteristics. Teachers and their chairpersons agreed about which teacher characteristics were important but differed in perceptions of most effective characteristics. Teachers and students agreed on subject mastery, understanding deafness, and communicating in sign language but ranked the importance of classroom management characteristics quite differently. (JDD)
