Ethnic Variation in Classroom Interaction: Myth or Reality.
Kumaravadivelu, B.
RELC Journal: A Journal of Language Teaching and Research in Southeast Asia, v21 n2 p45-54 Dec 1990
A study of ethnic variation supports the hypothesis that rules/norms governing second-language classroom interactional patterns are affected by the teacher's pedagogical orientation and turn allocation management, learner disposition/motivation toward participation, and interactional opportunities. It cautions against hasty linkages between ethnicity and styles of classroom interaction. (Contains 14 references.) (Author/LB)
