Curricular framework in a democracy must move away from delivery of "self-evident" truths to a more open-ended, problem-centered structure. It must recognize the historical development of social issues and nurture the skills for broadening opportunities for individuals within society. This article describes a Honolulu high school's efforts to tackle social inequities through its student forum and the school newspaper. (MLH)
