The Economic Returns to College Major, Quality and Performance: A Multilevel Analysis of Recent Graduates.
Rumberger, Russell W.; Thomas, Scott L.
Economics of Education Review, v12 n1 p1-19 1993
Estimates the effects of three types of qualitative differences in college experiences (college major, school quality, and educational performance) on recent college graduates' earnings, using hierarchical linear modeling. Results show that all three types of qualitative factors influence initial earnings, but the effects of institutional quality and educational performance are not uniform for graduates with different college majors.
