The Assistant Principal's Office: What Message Does It Convey?
Hartzell, Gary
NASSP Bulletin, v77 n552 p68-72 Apr 1993
Assistant principal's initial impression is important. Research on office environments suggests impressions can be powerfully communicated to other adults through symbolic artifacts or aspects of physical setting that guide interpretation of social setting. These include office layout, neatness, lighting, the presence or absence of professionally related objects (certificates, diplomas, books, or journals), and aesthetic objects (photographs or art work).
