Brouwers, Mariette; Wiggum, Candice D.
Journal of Mental Health Counseling, v15 n2 p141-49 Apr 1993
Notes that perfectionism often accompanies bulimia and contributes to maintaining bulimic behaviors. Cites unrealistic expectations and dichotomous thinking as two areas of perfectionism particularly prevalent among women with bulimia. Offers treatment suggestions to help clients challenge unrealistic expectations, identify and express fears underlying perfectionism, and develop courage to accept their own imperfections.
