Ethics and Efficacy of Verbal Testing of Nonverbal Children: A Case Study.
Leary, Joyce Butler; Boscardin, Mary Lynn
Remedial and Special Education (RASE), v13 n4 p52-61 Jul-Aug 1992
This case study of a nonverbal nine year old with physical handicaps examines the ethics and efficacy of using formal assessment instruments with such children, without procedural modifications or qualification of test results. Results of home and classroom observations suggested that the formal assessments did not reflect the student's actual performance and ability levels. (Author/DB)
