A Study of Acculturation Differences among International People and Suggestions for Sensitivity to Within-Group Differences.
Sodowsky, Gargi Roysircar; Plake, Barbara S.
Journal of Counseling and Development, v71 n1 p53-59 Sep-Oct 1992
Studied acculturation of international people (n=606). Found that Africans, Asians, and South Americans were significantly less acculturated than were Europeans. Significant differences emerged for permanent versus nonpermanent U.S. residence status, length of residence in United States, and religion. Participants related their identity to values, religion, physical appearance, and language of national origins. (Author/NB)
