Worldview and Counseling Preference: An Analogue Study.
Lyddon, William J.; Adamson, Lee Anne
Journal of Counseling and Development, v71 n1 p41-47 Sep-Oct 1992
Used 2x3 factorial design to study relationship between person's dominant worldview (mechanism or organicism) and preference for 3 counseling approaches (behavioral, rationalist, constructivist). Findings from 90 undergraduates revealed significant interaction between worldview and counseling approach--organicists exhibited significant self-preference for constructivist counseling, whereas mechanists significantly preferred behavioral counseling for themselves and others.
