A Preliminary Investigation of Special Needs Students' Global and Mathematics Self-Concepts.

Investigated self-concepts of 95 special needs students in grade 3 through 12 who received mathematics instruction in special education classes. Relationship between Piers-Harris Self-Concept Scale scores and mathematics achievement was significantly stronger for elementary than for secondary students. Percent of school day spent in special education had negative relationship to self-concept scores, positive relationship to mathematics self-concept scores. (Author/NB)
