Contemporary African-American/urban radio stations create unity within families and African-American communities; and provide a communication channel through which parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and civic leaders discuss urban issues and celebrate successes. Radio promotion strategies and ways of establishing creative partnerships between urban schools and radio stations are suggested. (RLC)
