A study of the postcollege experiences of 149 Yale College (Connecticut) graduates from elite prep schools, nonelite prep schools, and public high schools in 1963 supported the expectation that prep school graduates would have accumulated "social capital" according to one theory, and public school graduates would accumulate more "cultural capital."
