Adjusting the Interview to Avoid Cultural Bias.
Mahoney, Frances Eileen
Journal of Career Planning and Employment, v52 n3 p41-43 Mar 1992
Considers cultural bias in employment interviews. Compares white American and Navajo interview styles and suggests new approach for recruiters to make interviewing less culturally biased. Recommends that recruiters not ask direct questions about personal achievements, try indirect approach, avoid making judgments on first impressions and personality, recognize limited opportunities available to American Indians, expect concise answers, and resist generalizing.
