Children Held Hostage: Mothers' Depressive Affect and Perceptions of Family Psychosocial Functioning.
Ladewig, Becky H.; And Others
Journal of Family Issues, v13 n1 p65-80 Mar 1992
Examined how strain, family coping, and family hardiness were related to depressive affect among mothers of children who were held hostage by two gunmen in private church-sponsored elementary school two weeks and four months after episode. Perceived control (as dimension of family hardiness) and use of social and spiritual support were particularly important for positive outcomes. (Author/NB)
