Popular Discourse Concerning AIDS: Its Implications for Adult Education.
Boshier, Roger
Adult Education Quarterly, v42 n3 p125-35 Spr 1992
Analysis of popular magazine and newspaper items about Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) reveals several themes: a gay plague discourse, a contaminated other discourse, an innocent victim discourse, a heterosexual risk discourse, and a development discourse. Adult educators can use understanding of the meanings ascribed to AIDS in planning prevention education. (SK)
