Desegregation and the Stability of White Enrollments: A School-Level Analysis, 1968-84.
Smock, Pamela J.; Wilson, Franklin D.
Sociology of Education, v64 n4 p278-92 Oct 1991
Presents results of a study to determine whether particular schools in desegregating districts were disproportionate contributors to declines in white enrollment during desegregation. Suggests that proportions of African-American and Hispanic pupils and the implementation of minor desegregation programs are all associated with decreased white enrollment. Concludes that desegregation does not prompt resegregation. (DK)
