Rising Costs and Dwindling Budgets Force Libraries to Make Damaging Cuts in Collections and Services.
Nicklin, Julie L.
Chronicle of Higher Education, v38 n24 pA1,28-30 Feb 19 1992
Financial pressures brought on by economic recession and increasing costs of academic materials are causing academic libraries to cancel journal subscriptions, reduce book orders, neglect book preservation, cut staff positions, and reduce general services while seeking new revenue sources. Examples of libraries cutting back include those at Florida Atlantic University, Stanford University, and Yale University. (DB)
