Overcoming the Apprenticeship of Observation in Teacher Education Coursework.
Grossman, Pamela L.
Teaching and Teacher Education, v7 n4 p345-57 1991
Research on teacher education lacks a tradition of studying the content and instruction within exemplary professional courses. This article explains how a subject-specific methods course addressed prospective teachers' apprenticeships of observation using modeling and overcorrection. The course helped students acquire a technical language and professional knowledge concerning English teaching. (SM)
