Diagnostic Efficiency of Symptoms for Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Waldman, Irwin D.; Lilienfeld, Scott O.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v59 n5 p732-38 Oct 1991
Examined diagnostic efficiency of symptoms for experimentally diagnosed oppositional defiant disorder (OD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in 102 elementary-age boys. Findings from teacher ratings revealed that, on average, ADHD symptoms were as useful as OD symptoms as exclusion criteria for OD, whereas OD symptoms were nearly as effective as ADHD symptoms as inclusion criteria for ADHD.
