Understanding Models and Their Use in Science: Conceptions of Middle and High School Students and Experts.
Grosslight, Lorraine; And Others
Journal of Research in Science Teaching, v28 n9 p799-822 Nov 1991
Students' conceptions of models and how models function in science were assessed by administering a clinical interview about models to a group of mixed-ability seventh and honors eleventh grade students. Students' preconceptions about models, themes that appeared regularly during interviews, differences of themes between the two groups, and the differences between student and expert interview themes are discussed.
