Community Mental Health Services for Ethnic Minority Groups: A Test of the Cultural Responsiveness Hypothesis.
Sue, Stanley; And Others
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v59 n4 p533-40 Aug 1991
Investigated services received, length of treatment, and outcomes of thousands of Asian-American, African-American, Mexican-American, and White clients using outpatient community mental health services. Asian Americans and Mexican Americans underutilized services. African Americans overutilized services and exhibited less positive outcomes. Counselor-client ethnic match was related to length of treatment for all groups and with treatment outcomes for Mexican Americans. (Author/NB)
