Dimensions of Father-Child Interaction in a New York State Prison Population.
Lanier, C. S., Jr.
Journal of Offender Rehabilitation, v16 n3-4 p27-42 1991
Explored father-child interaction in maximum-security male prison population, examining both proximal (visits) and distal (letters, telephone calls) interactions. Findings from 302 prisoners revealed that many fathers did not take advantage of visitation programs. Both visits and telephone calls seemed related to father's preimprisonment residential status with his children. Exchanging mail appeared to be important avenue of parent-child interaction.
