Peer Counseling Strategies: Facilitating Self-Disclosure among Sexually Victimized Juvenile Offenders.
Brannon, James M.; And Others
Journal of Addictions and Offender Counseling, v11 n2 p51-58 Apr 1991
Investigated childhood sexual victimization of juvenile offenders and determined intervention strategies for facilitating self-disclosure of assaults. Results suggest that significantly large numbers of adolescent males entering juvenile justice system have been sexually victimized and clinicians might best reduce male victim denial with peer interventions which facilitate group cohesiveness, interpersonal support and hope, unconditional acceptance, and altruistic helping of others.
