Assessing the Costs and Benefits of Children: Gender Comparisons among Childfree Husbands and Wives.
Seccombe, Karen
Journal of Marriage and the Family, v53 n1 p191-202 Feb 1991
Investigated perceptions held by childfree married males and females who were in their childbearing years of the costs and benefits of having children, using national survey data. Found childfree males were more pronatalistic than females: husbands rated general importance of having children greater than wives, and they were more apt to want to have children themselves.
