Published certification requirements from the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands showed some common characteristics in nondegree certification. However, wide variations were found in work experience requirements, recency of work experience, evaluation of job and basic skills, requirements for initial certification, and the need of continuing levels of certification that lead to degree completion.
