Two Approaches to Teaching Accurate Empathy to Undergraduates: Teacher-Intensive and Self-Directed.
Kremer, John F.; Dietzen, Laura L.
Journal of College Student Development, v32 n1 p69-75 Jan 1991
Compared effectiveness of self-directed programed training model with minimal instructor supervision and more traditional high teacher-intensive approach to teaching empathy to undergraduate students (n=60). Found that self-directed empathy training program was as effective as high teacher-intensive program in improving empathy skills of undergraduates immediately after training and at 13- to 17-month followup.
