Examined psychological distress related to 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act among 90 Mexican-American and Mexican women. Undocumented immigrants who did not qualify for amnesty obtained significantly higher scores on hostility, undocumented immigrants who qualified for amnesty obtained lower scores in anxiety, and there were no differences in global psychological distress between undocumented immigrants and legal U.S. residents.
