Nonresidential and Residential Parents' Perceptions of the Former Spouse Relationship and Children's Social Competence Following Marital Separation: Theory and Programmed Intervention.
Buehler, Cheryl; Trotter, Belinda B.
Family Relations, v39 n4 p395-404 Oct 1990
Examined relationships among dimensions of former spouse relationship and children's social competence postseparation and explored impact of community-based, educational prevention program for divorcing parents on quality of former spouse relationship. Findings from 113 program participants and 80 separated and divorcing nonparticipants revealed that coparental competition was related more strongly to children's social competence than were conflict or cooperation.
