Compared effect of workshop presenter personal self-disclosures with hypothetical examples used to convey the same didactic material. Sixty-nine students watched a videotaped workshop presentation in self-disclosure or hypothetical example condition. Found that perceptions of presenters who used self-disclosures did not differ from those who used hypothetical examples. Discusses advantages and disadvantages of presenter self-disclosures.
