Planning for the Appropriate Analysis in School-Based Drug-Use Prevention Studies.
Murray, David M.; Hannan, Peter J.
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, v58 n4 p458-68 Aug 1990
School-based drug abuse prevention studies suffer from intragroup dependence when intact social groups are assigned to study conditions. Data analysis from two studies revealed intraclass correlation coefficients between 0.02 and 0.05 for common drug use measures. Suggests researchers adopt alternative methods that acknowledge dependence. Reviews alternative methods and illustrates appropriate methods for computing sample size requirements. (Author/NB)
