Students Do Rate Academic Fields Differently.
Cashin, William E.
New Directions for Teaching and Learning, (Student Ratings of Instruction: Issues for Improving Practice No. 43) p113-21 Fall 1990

The real problem arises from not knowing why this occurs. Institutions and individuals should decide how they will take these differences into consideration when interpreting student ratings.
