A questionnaire and indepth interviews were designed to test the gender differences in attitudes regarding the promotion of men and women primary school teachers. Responses from a sample drawn from a Welsh local education authority show clear gender differentiation; that women teachers need assistance and guidance to achieve their potential in the workplace.
