Teachers can behave authentically and be effective facilitators of learning by allowing all participants to have control over their own learning in a cooperative, nonauthoritarian, informal arena, and by focusing training on shared control, relevance, and authenticity. Such a student-centered approach motivates students to take responsibility for their own learning. (CB)
