Analysis of elementary school teachers' (N=93) questionnaire responses regarding the academic performance and upbringing of Romani boys and girls revealed stereotypes of the same type often found concerning ethnic minorities. Results suggest that there is a need for instructional environments that emancipate girls and boys from sex-based roles without eliminating the cultural pluralism of ethnic groups. (CB)
