A study of 478 teachers in 3 nonunion Arkansas school systems found that teachers spent about 62 hours weekly on job-related activities, relied on assistance from family members, donated over $12.60 weekly for school supplies, and drove nearly 25 miles weekly in education-related travel (besides driving to work). Most teacher generosity goes unrecognized. (MLH)
