Effects of Self-Esteem on Leniency Bias in Self-Reports of Performance: A Structural Equation Model Analysis.
Farh, Jiing-Lih; Dobbins, Gregory H.
Personnel Psychology, v42 n4 p835-49 Win 1989
Used structural equation model analysis to examine relationship between self-esteem and leniency bias in self-reports of performance. Results from 64 undergraduate students revealed that leniency bias was positively correlated with self-esteem. Findings also suggest that relationship between self-esteem and leniency bias was more positive when self-ratings were made on ambiguous performance dimensions rather than less ambiguous dimensions.
