Results of ordinary least squares analysis of worker survey data (n=6,651) suggest that members' participation in unions is positively related to many of same factors in Japan as in North America. Some findings at odds with those of Western studies are that older and better educated workers are less likely to participate and job status is unrelated to participation. (Author)
