The Role of "Home as Haven" Ideology in Child Care Use.

This project compared the "home as haven" ideology of 184 mothers who used either family day care or center-based day care. Questionnaires assessed home as haven ideology, type of care utilized, work constraints, and background factors. Results confirmed hypothesis that mothers who used family day care were more likely to believe in "home as haven." Policy implications are discussed. (TE)
