Three studies analyzing the employment status and opportunities of mildly retarded school leavers in West Auckland, New Zealand, indicated that a substantial proportion of subjects were not obtaining/retaining employment, and the situation was attributed to unavailability of jobs rather than lack of awareness of employment opportunities or inadequate search strategies.
