NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) assessments indicate obvious discrepancies between the level of math taught in school and what students can do. NAEP science results show that performance on moderately complex tasks has remained virtually unchanged for almost a decade. Schools must do better. Includes three references (MLH)
